The pace of Travel Mania is engaging and fun for several reasons. The multiple-choice trivia questions all fall into one of four categories: language, government, economy, and geography. Many of the questions have humorous answers as options to keep players entertained. Players take turns asking questions to one another as "passport agents" for a particular continent group. Visas can also be granted or taken away via Looney Luck cards, which are drawn when players land on these spaces scattered around the board. Cunning players can "bump" one another back to their home if the space they land on is occupied by someone else.

Travel Mania is unique in that as few as two players to as many as twenty can play (in teams, of course). The game can be finished in about an hour, or play can be extended if desired. Luck, smarts, and random chance all meet to create a Travel Mania winner. This keeps the game much more even-handed when people of different ages and experiences play. Of course, the more you play Travel Mania, the better your strategy will be. Over time you will grow better at the game while continuing to have fun and learn about the world.
